Bleep, the London-based record shop have launched a new Facebook page called ‘Bleep’s Guide to Electronic Music’ which is a visual and audio guide through the historical emergence of electronic music by looking at landmark figures, inventors, musicians, producers, record labels and bands from the 19th century up to present day.
Using Facebook Timeline they have listed the key/seminal moments in electronic music all the way back to March 25th 1857 when Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville received his patent for the phonautograph. Also included within the Timeline is when key tracks were released, labels started and bands formed. It has been lovingly created and is well worth a read which you can do here.
The page has been created in support of a 55 track compilation which feature artists such as J Dilla, Aphex Twin, A Guy Called Gerald, Joey Beltram and Inner City.
So if you have a spare ten minutes or half a day head over to Facebook and read about the history of Electronic music!
